Green Cheek Conure Bonding

Green cheek conures, as with all conures, are typically wonderful birds. They are hardy, easy to care for, and easy to train. However, they do have a few faults and one is that if you do not bond with them early on in life, they can be quite set in their ways. More »

Domestic Cats - Training Cats

All you need is some patience, some know-how, some “tricks of the trade” and some domestic cats. Seriously, domestic cats are incredibly intelligent. While they aren’t as easy to train as dogs, training cats is something that can be enjoyable for you AND your pets as long as you know how to do it. More »

Melvin’s Spot | Flashback Friday

Melvin the Himalayan Kitten

It’s time to start bringing back some oldies!

I was going through some of Melvin’s old pictures and realized that there are SO many pictures that were lost with the old blog.  He’s so full of character that I think a “Flashback Friday” is in order!  So, every Friday until I run out of pictures, I will post 5 of my favorites for the week!

On to the cute!

The Animals Are Settling In.

For a while it seemed that the new smells and sights were just too much for the cats, but now they’re loving life and acting weirder than ever (that includes Melvin).

Lot’s of pictures after the jump!

Pet Odors? Get Rid of Them Naturally!

pet odors puppy 300x199 Pet Odors? Get Rid of Them Naturally!Pet odors making you angry?

Pet odors.  Something I know about all too well.  Three cats and a ferret tend to make you a bit of an expert on getting the smells out (that is, unless you’re one of the types to just get accustomed to the smell and leave it at that).  I’ve tried everything in the book. Vinegar, baking soda, bleach, various “made-for-pet” products on the market.  So what works the best for various pet odors in your house?  From what I’ve found, the natural stuff is by far the best way to go.

Dog Food: How Healthy Is Your Dog Food?

Dog Food Three Dogs 300x225 Dog Food: How Healthy Is Your Dog Food? What dog food do you choose, these days?

Dog food is one of the most complicated choices you have to make when you have a dog.  There are literally hundreds of dog food brands on the market screaming at you to choose them so you have a happy, healthy dog.  So, how to you choose the right dog food?

From Oregon to North Carolina with 3 Cats and a Ferret!

32 300x225 From Oregon to North Carolina with 3 Cats and a Ferret! So happy to be home!

FINALLY.  After four days of driving with four pets in tow, we’re home.  It was a long ride, but it really wasn’t too bad considering most people would scream at the thought of that many animals sharing a small two-door coupe for such a long distance.  But boy, we did it!  The picture to the right is the very first meal (Fancy Feast, of course) shared in the new home.

WARNING: Image heavy and lots of reading after the jump (I’m cramming four days of cross-country travel into one post.  What do you expect?).

REVIEW: Petego Pet Tube | How It Holds Up For Long-Distance Travel

petego pet tube box 274x300 REVIEW: Petego Pet Tube | How It Holds Up For Long Distance TravelThe Petego Pet Tube is a LIFE-SAVER

After finding the Petego Pet Tube on Amazon before our long trip across the country, I honestly felt as though I was going to have to find new homes for Zoey and Moose, our cats.  With three cats and a ferret, the trip from Oregon to North Carolina seemed nearly impossible.

Traveling With Pets: Preparing the Car Ride

Traveling With Pets Persian 300x212 Traveling With Pets: Preparing the Car RideTraveling with pets can be stressful.

Thankfully I’ll be traveling with pets here in the next couple of days to help you through it.  This will be a series post that will cover a few different subjects.  Today’s subject?  Preparing for the car ride.  I will cover air travel at a later date, as I have some personal experience with that one, as well!

It’s all too true that bored cats will destroy your house.  They may look small, but those claws and little bodies of fur pack a real punch when they don’t have anything to do!

Due to the popularity of our “Bored Dog? Top Five Products to Intrigue Your Pooch”, I felt it was high time to write up a similar post for the all the felines out there dying of boredom while their owners are away.

Melvin’s Spot | Melvin gets a birthday ‘doo

IMG 0239 300x225 Melvins Spot | Melvin gets a birthday dooI always laugh at how utterly tiny Melvin looks when he gets a new haircut.  I keep forgetting he only weighs 4 pounds, 5 on a good day because, with hair, he’s so fluffy.

Melvin will be turning 3 in two more days (on St. Patrick’s day!) and it seems that he’s celebrating by having seizures again.
